Got my tooth fixed tonight. Hopefully it's just because of being just done but it's more sensitive then before. Maybe he dug a little too deep and got through some where else to the nerves.

Why is it that your teeth always bother you more after seeing the dentist then they did before?!!!

Today was a lot of fun, really.  We were ready for bed at 1AM, and the lights went out.   Called the power company,  nobody else had called, but they would check it out.   Heard the truck go by,  and got a phone call to ask if they were on, and on steady.  Sure were, only it was 2:45.   After going around and shutting off the lights now burning brightly, could not get to sleep.  Tried,  then wife wanted a shower,  and we had to be on the road by 8 anyhow.   Made it to first doctor appt. at 9, sat there 90 minutes, and had to leave to make next dr. appt.   Then got a quick bite, to get to dialysis by 12:30.   Parked in a shady spot, read and slept for the next 3 hours.   Got home with a pizza, and too beat to do anything.   Am thinking I will sleep good.

I had a handiman customer last week who's has some security issues - wondered if I had any ideas about helping her make her second floor condominium more secure. Never figured I'd ever be a security specialist but, you go where the work is. A door jammer for the front door, sliding window locks for her kitchen window.

She has two sliding glass patio doors that she's concerned about. Told her, "Look, nothing is 100%. if someone determined to get in, they will. All you can do is make things more difficult for the intruder. They're basically lazy - if they come to a place that's got any difficulties, they'll usually move on, as there's plenty of easy targets."
I've designed a metal-conduit type of door stop that I have in my sliding door (there's now a security door on the outside, so, it's kinda redundant). But it's cheap, easy to make and use, and has almost no permanent alterations to the door frame so she can have it and it won't be a problem if she goes to sell the condo. We'll see if Ace Hardware can understand my drawings and dimensions. It'll cost her if I have to watch them make it or buy the raw materials and fab it at my shop. She can buy something similar off of Amazon for $18 each, but the cost of steel tubing is so cheap it'd be better for me to get it for her.
One end of the rod is held up by a self-tapping screw on the stationary door, and the other end is notched to mesh with the handle attachment brackett, preventing the door from being slid open even if left unlocked.

The notched end is more easily seen in this shot. $5 worth of scrap and about 30 minutes work, and one can only get in by breaking the glass. Which is not quiet. Someone tries doing that is going to get a baseball bat (or worse) in the head.  :(

Put the first coat of resurfacer on the deck this afternoon -- what a job! I'll let it dry until tomorrow and then add the second coat. This Deck-Restore stuff is great! Fills cracks and holes and after two coasts it'll be like a new deck. It goes on slow, and boy!!! does my old back hurt after five hours of rolling that paint. Second coat should go faster -- hopefully!!

Got the reel mower back together, now I just have to come up with some sort of solution for the missing roller.
It had been found in a trash pile and that's probably why, that or a case of " big boy mower " syndrome.

Hick, get two 6" rubber wheels with the bearing for a 3/8" axle.  Bolt and spacers to the rear slots that adjusted the roller heights.  I did that to one so I could flip it backwards and walk it on the road wheels job to job.  It works perfectly.

George, I use broom handles cut to fit, dropped in the bottom rail.  My four sliders have near no effective lock when not broken.  Two are broken.

That could work.
I'll see what I can figure out with what I've got laying around first.

I worked all day and got nothing done. >:(

Started the day off working on the wifes disappearing fountain project. Got rained out of that before noon. 1 1/2in. rain this morning.

The axles on my cattle trailer are jacked up so I've been working on swapping them out. I've got a good set that were under a horse trailer. really nice axles just 6.5in too wide. Cut them down and was trying to weld them up and  :-\ I cant see the weld. WTF???? Then I remember that's a new hood and the magnifier hasn't been put in it yet.  ;D  Got the axles welded together and hung on new Ubolts and springs. But one of the wheels doesn't fit.... yup 3 ford wheels and one chevy wheel.  :-[ :-[ will get a new hub coming tomorrow.

Nothing completed and I worn out.

Thats funny.  I spent half the day doing long unfinished jobs and half the afternoon getting other jobs started so I could finish them faster next week.

Puttered some in the shoppette getting some details like fixing a folding chair and hanging fine art in it.
The upper rear patio painting is FINALLY finished and the lower completely done with touch up paint to hide kid and water damages.  Having the whole place painted white inside and out helps.

Yeah, that works if the sliding door is using the inside rail (and the stationary door is on the outside). My slider uses the outer rail, with the stationary door is in the inside channel.

The slider on the outside rail is a very poor design security wise IMO. I like to run a series of screws part way in the header to prevent the door from being pried up and pulled out. Still the AL/glass doors are not great security although a smart bad guy won't intentionally break the glass but an amateur or druggie will. Bonney that was a very clever solution.
