I wouldn't count on it Bman. I dont know if the new ones even have any metal in them.
I'm surprised they have found a way to make them out of plastic yet.

I am with GF, my next washer will be a Speed Queen

we buy basic appliances and have good luck with them.

Bought a Maytag Neptune front loader when they first came out. $1,000 in mid 90,s.  Board fried at 5 years.  $500 to fix.  Did it again 5 years later and bought a simple machine

It used to be with the older A/C units I could remove the electronics and swap in electro-mechanical switches and sensors and get them working again. Wouldn't have all the bells and whistles, but they'd blow cold air. the newer integrated digital ones I'm not sure can be simply retrofitted. Though with a new comp and fan such a condensing unit might still interface sufficiently with the indoor unit to function.

Gosh I miss my Toyota! :lol_hitting:

I looked at the title and my thought went to people.

Those old timers that lived through the depression, couple of great wars, Korea, no a/c, etc.  We certainly don't seem to be made like we used to.

I hear you but if you go back in time, like the pioneer days, those folks were likely even tougher then the Greatest Generation and you can probably say that about most every previous generation.  Not knocking anybody but I think this is just the progression of life

Yeah, I'm surprised kids aren't born today with a smartphone glued to their face and an earbud in their ear!  :D

This is a great video about the quality appliance brands that we "think" we know (or thought we knew), but in actuality they are just brands that exist in name only. It's an eye opener for sure.
