Taking apart a case backhoe extendahoe today had to have my father extend the arm while i wrangled it with a uniloader with forks wouldnt pull out cause the hydraulic lines got caught in the a arm so had to cut them in middle (was tearing it apart to replace those very lines) then it pulled right out. The cylinder needs rebuilt its also leaking even if it wasnt id recommend doing a rebuild while it was apart instead paying for a few hrs of labor to get it apart again

No pics today but i was rebuilding the cyclinder and trying to put the backup ring on and it broke in half luckly we had another one in stock and it went smooth after that got to use the torch heating up the bolt .. Did some practice welds on some iron im rusty after a couple blowouts im ready to stick metal together.. Also pulled in another backhoe that sold and tore the headliner out to find a couple big mice nest in the vents. All the foam was ate and the headliner cracked so itll be getting replacements. I expected to find wires chewed but i couldnt find anything so i got to figure out why the ac light is on...i love a challange

Got the extend a hoe back together went pretty smoothly except the new lines for bucket were wrong and 3ft to short they werent for a extendahoe so now have to wait for the correct lines. Its mainly my fault for not measuring them when i recieved them tuesday.. Also throwing the old lines away i was paying attention to where i picked them up and inbedded 4 wires in my thumb so spent awhile digging those out thankfully i keep a kit in my box with good tweezers and a piercing needle for digging.

Tractor was still having starting issue where it would onlywork intermentially even with a new starter. It needs a new positive cable which is likely culprit but he dont want to spend the money and were trying cheap fixes first so i spent a bit 2 hrs fabricating a mount and installing a soleniod. Not prettybut its not a pretty tractor to begin with.

How much would the battery cable be?
Parts and two hours labor on the "cheap" fix?

the factory battery cable is NLA so itd have to be made by special order which we have done by napa so itd be anice chunk not sure how much boss didnt tell me the price its close to 10 ft long Book time says 6 hrs to replace. At 175 a hr i could probably drop it to 4 if i didnt encounter anything bad. The soleniod, supplies  and my time was400 bucks. He has close to his limit of 4k in it now the tractor worth 6k as it sits he says it needs to llast only 6 more months till he can buy something new and scrap it.

Also worked on the rat piss backhoe today hooking up a quick attach for front bucket when i noticed the left cyclinder wouldnt extend on its own so i pulled on it and the rod came out along with 2gallons of oil in my boots.  The bolt had snapped off the end tried taking the gland nut off but the set screw twisted off so i had to drill it out then tried heating it to get the gland to come off with a 3/4 breaker and 5foot of cheater and it just wont budge looked down the hole and the cyclinder is trashed the bolt and rod been beating a Er ound for awhile. So we found a used one for 600 to put on.

Well i messed with the positive battery cable today and noticed it had a bolt on automotive connecter instead of the "normal" crimped and soldered connecter so i unbolted it and they had cut half the wire off to make it fit the terminal luckly their was enough cable i cut off about 2inches to clean undamaged wire and crimped and soldered a new terminal on so that should help it .. Unless its rigged elsewhere
