Thank you for the history lesson Ray. I was aware of the Bobby Kennedy and MLK deaths. However I didn't know there were mass riots afterwards.

What happened in 92 as I was just a youngin then?

I just don't understand the idea of looting/rioting.

Peaceful protesting sure. I mean it usually gets nothing done, but it's not destructive or hurtful.

Tim -- 1992 were called the Rodney King riots, when a black man (King) was severely beaten by several LA police officers while cameras were rolling. The aftermath was similar, and many innocent people (white and black) were the victims of vigilante justice. Also to note was that the small Korean business community in LA at the time guarded their shops from the rooftops with all manner of firearms and shot looters who were trying to destroy their businesses. Word soon spread that the Koreans weren't fooling around, and as a consequence their shops were mostly spared the destruction.

In 68 in Little Italy in Baltimore, the Italians protected their business from rooftops also.

I know the overwhelming majority think deploying armed National Guard troops is a good idea, but I just can't agree. I mean, I used to be in the military. I just can't fathom using my military skills against other American citizens, even zombie looters like what we've been witnessing. It's a bad situation that deploying the military will only make worse.

Just the thought of tanks and humvees and armed troops patrolling the streets of my city makes my skin crawl.

I'm not crazy about it, but to stop looting and destruction of private property, I'm all for it.  These people don't deserve kid gloves.

I don't have a problem with a State using their National Guard. While the Guard is under State control it's basically a modern day militia. Back in the day this kind of behavior would've been dealt with by the militia. Probably on looters will be shot, survivors will be hung terms.

Feds should stay out of it though.

the national guard comes in to provide the help needed during floods, tornados, hurricanes and other natural disasters. they provide security (to protect people and property), medical help and rescue skills. is it ideal? of course not but some of these areas are  becoming  disasters (natural or not) after days of fires. looting and rioting.

i have no issues with peaceful protests. hell i might walk with em at the right time but i have no patience for those that use the cover of protest as a right to loot, burn and destroy others property.

the mayor of  st paul mn said it right in an interview. destroying any business  especially ones such as  burning down a black barbershop in a black community does not help the cause. unfortunately few leaders  have the balls to condemn anyone for the destruction.

there is going to be a protest in my town  of about 10,000 people. i am torn between staying far away or hanging out with a friend of mine who runs a small business there to help watch his business.

The deployment of the National Guard has been the only thing to stop previous riots such as the Rodney King riots. I had a BIL who was a cop who got deployed to L.A. and his job was to escort the NG trucks as they picked up the bodies of idiots that fired on the bait police cars and fire engines.

SKfarmer, I vote to help protect your friend's business. Too many agitators and looters are carrying hammers to bust windows.

I’m all for Trump getting these riots under control. Once the mayors and governors allow the riots to continue they have no control of the situation. The Feds should step in to gain control. Now peaceful protests don’t have a need for intervention but we ain’t seeing peaceful protest

The police could stop this if the mayors and governors would let them. But when you send you law and order out with rubber bats and and loud speakers to break up a crowd of violent criminals what do you expect. Let the PD's get out the fire hoses, zip tie cuffs, and start ENFORCING THE LAW.

They will not ask for federal help that may offend them.

That confederate statue offends me tear it down or I we will riot.

That school mascot offends me change it or we will riot.

That rope reminds me of lynching stop selling that or we will riot.

That school has Lee in the name that offends me change it or wee will riot.

Gone With the Wind offends me ban it or we will riot.

Black Friday offends me change it or we will riot.

It goes on and on where will it end?

This could get bad and we have a president who runs for shelter instead of going on TV asking for calm.

That statement is as pathetic as the lamestream media trying to say Trump is a coward and ran to the bunker. FYI it was the Secret Service who took him to the bunker as that is their job whether he wanted to go or not.

When they started protesting in Reno on Saturday the mayor tweeted that she will not tolerate the use of excessive force by the police. After she neutered the police and the agitators started their crap they descended on the police station and damaged patrol cars. Then they moved to city hall and busted windows and lit a fire inside and not a single cop was in sight at the time. They showed up a little later and people were complaining about the tear gas bothering them.

I think the police officers need to have a vote of no confidence in the mayor and she needs to go. I think she should of been gone several years ago when she ordered the gay flag flown on Pride Day and the US flag was taken down and replaced with the rainbow POS flag.
Yeah thats why he had protestors tear gassed the other day for a photo op. Nixon met with protestors and he wasnt loved by the masses but he was leader.

That story has been proven untrue --
