I was using this funnel today and it brought back a memory of my freshman year in high school in 1948. This funnel was my first metal shop project in the 9th grade and is made out of a gallon oil can. If you look close you can still see some of the writing. I must have done a good job as the funnel is still doing its job. I wonder what the gallon oil can would be worth today-no I don't remember what was printed on it.
Note: A memories thread might be interesting.

Great work CM - -- your were doing quality work even as a scraggly teen. I still have some funnels from my dad and grandpa's days, but they were purchased commercially. The stuff from that era just seems to last.

Cool. That's pretty neat old funnel. A metal oil can would be a relic now.
I've got a dustpan I made back in metal shop. and it looks like a kid made it too.

Who cares what the metal oil can would be worth today. That nice funnel you made as a teen is priceless.

How did you roll that lip on top of funnel. Nice job

I would hope you got an A+ on that project. ;D

As I remember, it was rolled around a length of aluminum rod.
