Insanity continues
« on: March 17, 2020, 11:59:37 AM »
The mayor of Reno issued orders yesterday for all non-essential businesses to close until April 5th including casinos. Mayor Hillary quickly found out she doesn't have as much power as she thought. She has now said the casinos should follow the directions of the Nevada Gaming Board. That cracks me up and the Washoe County Health Dept. also said they have nothing to do with her orders and it is for the city of Reno only. Women named Hillary are scary when they think they have the power to control your life.

Meanwhile the major grocery chains in the area are advertising to hire more employees. They need more people to stock shelves and pull orders for pickup and delivery.

I sure hope some of the folks who are out of work because of the virus take the grocery stores up on the jobs.  It may help tide them over till things get back to normal.

Our Governor ordered our casinos, restaurants, theaters and bars closed and anywhere where 50 people would gather.. We are headed for an interesting time for everyone.  Business is going to drop off and cash flow will get tough for a lot of people.

Yep, AZ is closing the universities, schools, public events, and a host of other things.....but leaving the Mexico/US border open.  :017:

The political and Deep State sources of this crisis are becoming more apparent by the hour.

Since the wife and i are "elderly", we are staying home mostly. She doesn't get out much except to taxi grandchildren and since school has closed temporarily, she hardly goes out at all.
I am involved in our local museum and it is closed for a while.
We have a Classic Car and Truck show on the third Friday of each month, but that is also postponed.
Lots of internet, Facebook, Xfinity, and Netflix.

I’m screwed, I have between 25 to to 35 people a day on site. And most have to ask some stupid questions or look at my drawings hourly. I bet I will be the first on here to get it.  :91:

I sent notice yesterday to my new house builder that I was putting the stop to that deal. Our plan was to build new and then sell ours after completion of the new one. I don’t want to lock in a high build price now and then sell low in seven months. I would rather wait and see what happens to property values over the next couple months.

I would of loved to be in San Diego getting that Big Eye Tuna and Opah for $10 per pound right off the boat. What a shame they have to sell it for 1/3 market price to get rid of it.

Well, with the NCAA tournament cancelled, and ALOT of local places are gonna get screwed out of alot of fan money. Many places have laid off employees and things could get ugly if this shut-down drags on as we are a heavy tourist town. Fortunately the Gem and Mineral Show just ended in February before the lock down hit, so those vendors got paid.

The Mrs and I have cancelled a trip, another trip could be affected. Luckily we hadn't already booked accommodations yet.

Pelosi and Schumer believe that pork is what's needed to stimulate the economy and get us on a road to recovery. I am going to have to do my part and am making a pork loin for dinner. :great:

Had a family relative with a trip to New Zealand planned soon. I'm figuring that's a bust. Breathing recirculated air for 17 hours. No thanks!

I'm thinking Staycations are gonna be a big hit this year.  :D

I flew last week. All 9 of us on the plane got the option to sit in first class and got first class service, I enjoyed it greatly. TSA lines are short and smooth, very little panic because the only people left flying are the professional travelers.

I guess the train engineer let his conspiracy theories cloud his judgement when he derailed his locomotive trying to ram the hospital ship in L.A. harbor.
According to the reporter he steered his train at the ship. Conductor, how big a steering wheel does a locomotive have? :021:

Now some states are ordering big box stores to stop selling non-essential items in their stores. I guess clothing and electronic stores are complaining that they are shut down whiles these big stores are selling the same items they carry. I sure don't like government telling us what is essential and what is not. What happens if your TV and computer and cellphone die? Are you just SOL and can't get any current info?

our grocery stores are implementing a one shopper only. So the wife and I have to get two carts, she gets her crap and I get mine... Cant bag your own groceries anymore either, have to wait on the little X on the floor until the bagger gets finished. I need to start drinking again. one stop at the liquor store and I'm good. :character0029:

A local rural supply store chain has tried to implement xx shoppers in the store at any given time. 2 other customers and myself found if you ignore the kid "enforcing" the rules and go about your business they wont stop you. If we dont start pushing back against this insanity, the authoritarians will make it the new normal.

There is a whole lot of truth there.  They are already restricting our movement and our ability to make a living.

Now they have canceled the Aviation Roundup in Oct. at our local airport. I was looking forward to the Thunderbirds flying past the house low and a great view of the show looking down at the airport 3 miles to the west. :91:

Here is a new wrinkle, don't know if its true, half true or false.  Customer comes in who owns a good sized landscape business.  Said his neighbor who is a nurse at a good size hospital was furloughed after 31 years on the job.  She said the hospital has 13 or so cases of covid but the rest of the hospital is empty (exaggeration).  She also said the Fed is paying the hospital $30K plus for each covid case that dies.  Well guess what everyone is dying  from, even those who have been on life support for other ailments.

He may have his story a little wrong, but I do know that high COVID numbers mean federal dollars to the various jurisdictions. It's been reported that NYC pretty much counted anyone that died with a respiratory or infectious disease as a  COVID case to get the numbers up -- high numbers mean lots of federal aid money keeps flowing in. The incentives are all wrong, and partisan politics is making it worse -- especially in these democrat controlled large cities.

I've heard similar stories, Phil. Even the MSM news goes on and on about the crazy mass of COVID patients overflowing the hospitals - then a week or two later I hear about hospitals being empty and staff furloughed. Something smells fishy. :017:

My wife is finally starting to see some busy time at work. Since they eased restrictions here a lot of people are coming in to have tests ran that had been put off due to the Wuhan. Hopefully she can go back to a regular schedule again

Nah, the healthcare system is in great shape, They would never create a  falsehood to essentially steal money from us(the taxpayers)
