Title: What do I have socket set?
Post by: coolmercury on November 20, 2019, 04:22:05 PM
This set was included with another socket set I bought off e-bay recently.  Box is OD and the drive size appears to be 5/16".  Included was a double male extension, a sliding bar with both a male and female socket and 5 sockets.  I thought it was 9/32" until I fit the extension into a square 5/16" socket (the last socket on the right) which was not included.  It fits nicely, so is it 9/32" or 5/16" drive?  I must admit I'm not familiar with 5/16"drive.

Coolmerc, I almost said Coolford  ;), can you add some side view shots of the sockets?

I'm bettin that double square extension would fit an EASYDRIVER ball driver. I don't have one handy to measure and it's raining like monsoon but as I recall the opening is 5/16".

And you could mark it with "EASYDRIVER" and the ball wouldn't notice! :))

I have only seen 5/16 hex drives before. That set is cool.

Here is a side view of the sockets.  I don't have anything that matches them.  And I have never had a 15/32 socket before.

So, I was poking around Alloy Artifacts and found that Hinsdale made things in a 5/16's drive. If you want more info, there is info under the alloy steel heading on AA. http://alloy-artifacts.org/hinsdale-hindsight-p2.html

If you are interested in moving this along, I could be interested.

I thought of the Hinsdale set as well, but seeing the sockets now, they don’t look like that set. They look more like a Duro Indestro socket. Indestro also had T bars with a male and female side like that.

Still, hard to say for certain.

I checked Hinsdale also and it was not a match.  I also looked through my Duro and Indestro (I have several old sets of each) and there was no match there either.
