I rescued this Yost 206 vise from the scrap yard. It's freekin' heavy. It took 2 of us to load and unload this. This will make a nice winter restore project.
-
Nice save. Looks like it needs a little attention. ;D

Congrats on finding that beauty. Take it apart and soak it in some Evaporust and it will be good as new.
-
Man, that does look like a beast!
-
Looks operable.

Good old Pennsylvania iron
Sent from the twisted mind of the Mudman

I love a iron rescue , looking forward to the resto story and pixs. Speaking of story , tell us the story of how you found the beasty.

I went to a yard sale and this was on the floor of the garage floor next to some garbage bags. I asked and was told it was going to be scraped. I made a scrap yard offer and took it home. It took 2 of us too get it in my trunk.

Well you certainly suck :))
But it goes to show that those who are out looking on a regular basis will get deals. I get a kick out of folks who say they can't find a deal at a yard sale or auction. Problem is they don't go to enough of them. Same with CL

You also can't be timid about offering a low price. This was going to scrap. How much is this worth in scrap ? By weight , I'd say about $ 5.00 tops. It would be a shame to let this be scraped.
-
That's less than $2 scrap around here at the current ridiculous $32/ton. And with scrap in the schitter, new steel is $1.25+/lb near all-time-high. Somebody oughta be horse whipped for scrapping that beauty vise though. It'll clean up nice!

Scrap is low here also. Never knew the price of new steel, never even heard it talked about in a per pound price.

I don't think a scrap yard would even buy it. I think they would say to bring it back with 1900 pound more metal.

Ok Ken fess up what did you give for it if you don`t mind.
Cannot award suckage yet so suckage is pending.
-
$ 25.00

Wow... Suckage duly awarded with clusters.
