Title: Merry X-mas to me
Post by: bmwrd0 on December 24, 2019, 09:37:02 PM
So, I was fooling around on eBay a while back and saw something that caught my eye. Too rich for my blood, I put it on my watch list. Well, not too long ago, I got an email from eBay that I could get a special deal on it, for 24hours, or put in an offer! Well, I waited until the end of that period, saw it hadn't sold and put in a lowball, which was accepted. So, yesterday morning, this was delivered

Why did I want this? Well, a couple of years ago I was at one of those "world largest garage sales! Indoors!" which was a total disappointment. One guy was selling an old toolbox full of tools, which I bought more so I wouldn't leave empty-handed more than anything else. When I got home and started looking at what I bought, I found a Hinsdale G-20 socket set that was almost complete. At that point, I started looking for the box that it went in.

I am still looking for a few sockets; 5/8, 15/16, 1-1/8, and 1-1/4. But let me say, they sure stuffed a bunch into these old girls!

Was that worlds largest garage sale in Buffalo ?  I went there once and wanted to leave after about 10  minutes. Nice find there.

For a little perspective, that set was made sometime around 1927, give or take. So the label as lasted around 90+ years and it still looks good.

Here's hoping we all do the same.

Merry X-mas!

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?

I don't know much about Hinsdale. I know they have fans out there, but never personally got why. Heck, haven't really even seen much in my neck of the woods (but then I ain't looking). Teach me something, guys - what's the skinny on Hinsdale tools?
