Single box end machine wrenches
« on: April 12, 2019, 07:23:50 PM »
I've had these for a while, they came with a lot of machinist tools I bought years back. Outside of machine shops I dont see these type of wrenches, really at all.

Armstrong no. 1807, 12 pt. 1-1/16"
Armstrong no. 587 4 pt. square 5/8"
Williams no. 586 4 pt. square 9/16"
Fairmount (no #) 4 pt. square 1/2"
Williams no. 803 6 pt. 11/16"

Nice, I never see those but I`d sure grab them if I did.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Forgot this guy. Not a single box end, rather a combo! But an odd duck. Williams The "Superrench" no. 1563D

It is a 7/8" open end and a 5/8" 4 pt square box end.

Pictured with Armstrong no. 587, 5/8" 4 pt

I also have a Williams heavy engineer pattern DOE wrench with 1/2" and 3/8" square openings. Around here somewhere. Or at work.

That Williams is a lathe wrench. The open end is to adjust the follower, and the square hole is for the tool post. I have one for my Altas/Craftsman, different sizes though.
