Early Multi-Tool?
« on: April 29, 2019, 03:26:38 PM »
My late Father worked for a local brewery most of his adult life and collected many things brewery-related, mostly Wisconsin-based.

Here is an early multi-tool, one purpose is rather obvious the other using the square hole not so much.

Any guesses?  Please don't just look it up and answer, that is how I found out, take a guess.

Pretty cool!! -- I saw a few similar wrenches from a commercial beer distributorship that serviced the restaurant industry. The square hole in their tool was designed to open the gas valves on the CO2 cylinder banks that they serviced when they delivered beer.

While that may be true, I found another story...

That was my first thought looked like it could be used for the old style valves with the square handles.

OK, the openers are from the early 1900s and the square hole was used on the automobile.

Gas light valve ?
You got it!

It was used to turn on the acetylene gas for the Prest-O-Lite lamps.
