Title: skfarmer's wood butchering arsenal
Post by: skfarmer on September 20, 2020, 04:36:30 PM
since a new saw entered my arsenal i thought it was time to post some pics of the rest of the fleet.

top pics. the new echo cs-590 timberwolf with 20 inch 3/8 chain.

bottom pics. stihl .028 super av woodboss with 16 inch .325 chain. yea i know the bar says farm boss but the price was right.  ;)

can't say enough good about the stihl. it has been rock solid and through hell and back. a couple years back my dumbass neighbor felled a tree on it shattering the air filter cover, air filter and flattening the top handle to the case. a new filter, cover and some press work to the handle put it back to work.

each saw lives in a case for the off season.

no doubt, the echo is a larger saw.

the finishing touch. about 20 tons of  hydraulic persuasion. a northern tool 3 pt mounted wood splitter. a little dirty as i just drug it out of the corner of a shed where it has been hiding for several years. with a little work it will hang on the back of my mahindra as soon as my needed parts arrive. more on that later.

oh yeah, notice the tweak on the splitting wedge. i have no idea how he did it but it is the same guy who dropped a tree on my saw. go figure.

Both saws look great, the Sthls have great reputation and that Echo looks like a beast!

I've always likes the idea of the 3point mounted splitters. one less engine to maintain.

Have a farm boss, excellent saw, 2 pulls it fires. Took a few tries to get the start up dance steps correct ..... :021:

Have a back pack also, will blow the house off the foundation.  Stihl own its reputation never go wrong with their stuff.
