mahindra max 26xl
« on: January 24, 2019, 09:11:14 AM »
life gets in the way and i have never followed through with this. i brought this home in mid december and put it to work. it is a mahindra max 26 xl with loader. most people think mahinda means made in india. not always. this model is made by mitsubishi in japan and has a 3 cylinder tier4 engine and 2 speed hydro transmission. it has 20 hp on the pto, almost 2600 lbs of breakout force on the loader  and 2200 lbs of lift on the 3pt. pretty impressive numbers  for a tractor in this size frame.

part of the purchase  was a 3pt snowblower. it has 56 inch cut and is a pretty good match for this tractor. it handles it pretty well but would not want any less hp. snowblowers are hp pigs. it has a spout that can be rotated or angled by electric motors controlled with a joystick. if you look close there is a hf quick hitch mounted between the 3 pt hitch and the blower. it was a bargain for 80 bucks with a 20% off coupon and makes switching implements much easier.

what is a tractor without attachments? having different tools increasing what you can do with it.

pallet forks are always handy and better yet if easy to switch. the loader has  a skid steer mounting system for the bucket so swapping the bucket with the forks is  as easy as throwing the levers. backing away from the bucket and driving up to the  pallet forks and throwing the lever back to lock the pins. that is a stack of new disc blades and other parts for my grain drill. don't kid yourself how heavy that is. it is pretty much a stack of solid iron.

i also have a trailer mover for it. it was used but barely.  it works great for moving trailers and uses a standard receiver hitch. i made the black bracket to store extra hitches. lower the 3 pt. back up to the trailer. raise the 3pt and away you go. it makes moving snow around trailers easier and should make mowing easier as well.

Very versatile tractor you bought SK. The skid steer mounting on the buckets make life easier with more accessories available.

That is sweet. I bet you will soon wonder how you lived without it before.

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, it must be electrical.

a few more pics. for those not familiar. a skid steer type attachment  uses a plate with a notch in the top to hook on the loader and locks in place with spring loaded pins. the first and second pics show the attachment point open and closed. the third  and fourth pics are of the  pallet forks from the back and front.

yes, that is the shop kitty!

what is a tractor without a tool box? i mounted this box for a a chain . it is bolted to the rops and the joystick for the blower is on the back side as is the door opener.

a loader bucket needs hooks. i welded some hooks to plates and bolted them on. i just could not weld to a "new" bucket  and burn the paint off. i can always move or remove them if i want. hooks are left right and center.

never enough lights either. i mounted 2 led lamps facing to the front and 2 towards the rear on the rops as well as an led beacon. it has been to town to clean up at my mom's and my son's. better safe than sorry. they are controlled by a switch bank i ordered from the bay. it also has a lighter outlet and usb port for accessories.

as i said before. it may say mahindra but this thing is mitsubishi built and they are proud of it. one thing i liked about the mitsubishi is they create their rated power at about 2500 rpm vs the korean built compacts. most of them run at 3000 or better. it is much quieter and less obnoxious than the higher rpm models.

the blower is made in canada and uses sae fasteners!

the lower motor rotates the spout left to right and the upper one angles the spout up or down.

That's a nice sized machine, very handy to have around. A set of forks is on my short list for my FEL tractor.
