An Unexpected Surprise from Northern California
« on: October 13, 2018, 01:42:50 AM »
Got a package in the mail a couple days ago and it was quite unexpected. From Hickory N Steel.

The package got my attention - my wife was impressed and she made sure to point it out to me.

Inside was a very generous gift of some very cool tools and a pair of nephews for T.L.G.G. A Snap-on BB dated 1939, a Plomb socket, a 9/32 to 1/4 adapter, a Gray ignition wrench, a Plomb ignition wrench and two TRW ignition wrenches. The TRW's are a new one to me.

Thank you very much Hickory!

Very nice and well done H&S. I have never seen a Gray tool of any kind around here. Never seen a TRW marked tool either and that is a great collection of tools there.

The breaker bar is unusual with that little ring-like bulge on top of the knurling and the knuckle being forged 45 deg off center. Wonder why Snappy did that? Any specific advantages?

I'm really glad you like them, however I've never seen that adapter before in my life  ???

I always thought the Snapon midget breaker bar was really cool, but being 9/32 I couldn't use it and knew you could.
The trw wrenches were doubles and the ones I do have I quite like, I may have to think about completing a set at some point.
I've never seen a Gray either, so I knew I had no need for just one when I'd never find companions for it.

I'd swear the adapter was in package but you packed it so I must be wrong. First mistake I've made this morning.

Thank you again H&S.

It was the design for a long time. The 45* is common on these and I suppose someone figured it would be of advantage to clock the socket.

I forgot what all I sent you so but I knew there was something else, so I went and looked in the top of my toolbox.
It was a PLOMB DOE that it's original owner had marked with a couple small notches.
