Quite the deal on the torx drivers

For me, not an often-used tool but I am glad I have them in the collection

Absolutely agree Phil. I see more and more Torx in everyday use. From deck screws, lag screws/bolts, to common household appliances; Torx is taking the lead. I owned a marginal set of drivers for a long time, but given the prevalence of these fasteners, I bit the bullet and purchased a set of NOS Craftsman Torx drivers on eBay. Glad I did because the security Torx (S-Torx) drivers have saved my bacon on several occasions when taking apart small kitchen appliances.

Elroy made a very good purchase - congrats.  :bravo_2:

Those security Torx and Allen screws can be a real problem. Hold no doubt, Elroy has access to a wide selection of both internal and external Torx bits . However most of them were the square drive socket verity. Elroy's straight shank drivers selection was fairly limited until recently. Many times a straight shank driver is required due to limited access. That problem should now be history.

Inquiring minds.... Can Elroy tells this dumb farm boy what the plastic red things on the ring are?

I wanna know too.
It looks like they go over a torx and fit into one, but what's the purpose?

That's exactly what they do. With a snug fit inside, or over the fastener, they positively identify the correct Torx driver. It works kind of like a thread screw pitch gauge for Torx bits. It was a free salesman's sample from one of my fastener reps. It's actually rather handy to have for accurate shop floor identification of driver size. It's like having the whole tool box on your key chain.

S•K 40970, the head is larger than my WRIGHT 2426 and nothing can really beat the contour grip,  but I like it.
60 tooth count which I didn't expect,  it's smooth and has minimal anvil play.

Elroy would trust these recently purchased, high speed silver and deming shanked  drill bits would be considered a tool

At $3 each. I would say Elroy got a hell of a deal.

It was indeed a good deal. That's why Elroy purchased them.

Then there's this recent line wrench purchase at $17 per set. For years Elroy employed his vintage Craftsman examples until one came up missing.

Had to enlarge the picture, as I thought those were Wright ones at first.  (looks like Blackhawk, instead?)

I had bid on some on Ebay, that I already own a set of (Kobalt, SAE, made by JH WIlliams), but got outbid.  For the cost, I was putting them aside for a friend, if I won them.
Still would like to try some Armstrongs or Wrights, compared to the Snap on, Williams and Bonney's I have.

if elroy ever came across any more of those sk extension sets  he could easily sell a set to the farmer.

as a purist, sk extensions should have 2 bands on the female end and all of the last generations are smooth. well maybe not purist. a purist would say 2 bands  and no knurling like the oldest version but the "newer" banded with knurling are the best of both.

as usual elroy has an eye for the good deals.
