Don’t you just love buying a whole toolbox ( deceased estate ) , just off one photo on the internet for very fair price , maybe the photo shows the odd good score ……

Then getting it home and sorted through to see what you really got to add to the collection …..

Highlights for me …….

I don't know what you paid, MidniteMack, but the box alone is worth the price of admission! SCORE!

I’ve been installing some mini split ACs and wasn’t happy with my current flaring tools   Bought a cheap oscillating flaring tool off of Amazon   This thing makes some nice flares. May have to throw some coins at a brand name set.

New ultra heavy duty hang tag for $13 delivered. I was blown away by the quality of this tag. Solid, high density plastic all over. Reusable retention strap. Crisp, clear marking. Built to last.

Not sure what the round metal pieces on the tabs are for though...

There are usually more vendors at the farm-tractor-threshing show this past weekend.  Did score just one tool,  unusual for me, a heavy ratcheting screwdriver,  from the late great  Millers Falls Co.  10 inches long.  Wood handle and I would date it about 1930.  No pic capability yet,,  and my phone quit.

They're to keep the hang tag from blowing away, of course!

Kind of ironic, because there's likely more engineering and design in the tag/holder than in the sockets. Packaging engineers are coming up with a lot of unique designs these days.

Oh absolutely. That tag takes three pretty involved injection molds for the components vs maybe a simple forge die and a setup on a generic C-axis live tool cnc lathe to run the sockets. There's easily a half million dollars in mold dies, not including the molding machines, to run hang tags for a sub $20 socket set. And most people never even think twice about it as they huck it in the trash can.

The widow of a flea market tool vendor occasionally sets up a yardsale,  and I stopped by after work.

I'll probably have to go back tomorrow.
I didn't bother looking through the bins of wrenches because I don't really like individuals of that stuff, but there's multiple pairs of pliers I left behind and an awesome wood handled PROTO screwdriver that wasn't priced yet which I hope is still there tomorrow.

It's one of the red groove striking cap screwdrivers,  man I sure hope it's there tomorrow.
There was also some 8" Diamaloy slipjoint hose clamp pliers I didn't get a price on.
Always lookin' to learn
