Title: Gotta Motorize My Bead-Roller
Post by: hofferwood on April 05, 2019, 02:27:03 PM
Well I bought this-------

And now it kinda looks like this------

I didn't even have my Jeep last year when I bought this roller. But my brother was doing complete floors in a '65 Dodge Dart------another story. Never used it on that.

So, when I got it, I knew I needed power drive. I happened to find this over on G.J..

Seemed like a nice clean add on-----but I want to do e015475s a little different.
Now e015475 said he used a 3/8" bolt and drilled out a 3/4" hunk of bar stock to fit his lovejoy. Well I went to my bolt storage and grabbed a 3/8" bolt, and took the winch apart-----fit perfect.

So I ordered a lovejoy set 3/8" one side 1" for the other. When they came in-------my 3/8" bolt didn't fit the 3/8" hole---wtf?????-----------------I grabbed a 7/16" bolt-----DUHHHH.

It all worked out great tho 3/8" is pretty much the drill size for 7/16-14   ;)

Now I'm doing the mount different also, it will be 3 bolt removable, just in case the drive pukes, or want to use the crank.

This is the plate drilled. I'm going to start with 1/4"-20. If need be I can bump up to 5/16"

Use a transfer punch-----you know ;D

Got the plate drilled and tapped.

Now to slot out the top hole -----for doing fancy stuff. ;D

I have a few more holes to drill. Then make a portable stand.

I will keep yinz up-dated.

Looks like the rust is devouring that Jeep. What does that project entail? Enquirering minds want to know. Looks like a lengthy thread is in order.

Well it's pretty much done variable speed, foot pedal---blah blah.
I'll take better pics after a coat of paint.
