Title: Stubby homemade wrenches
Post by: coolmercury on May 21, 2019, 02:25:13 PM: These wrenches are both one inch, the Craftsman is normal thickness and the Blackhawk has been ground down. No, they were probably not broken as they look to have been cut and then smoothed on a wire wheel. Obviously someone had a need for these to destroy the original wrenches.

Years ago I started buying cheap Taiwanese and POC wrenches and used those for special jobs. HF used to sell bulk packs of the most common sizes in metric and SAE, and those came in quite handy when the need arose to cut one up.

That said, I'd be hard pressed to cut up a Blackhawk -- or even a C-man raised panel, unless absolutely necessary.

Post by: ken w. on May 21, 2019, 04:31:03 PM: Been there. Done that. I even cut down a nice adjustable wrench out in a pasture once so I didn't have to drive 30 miles back home to get a shorter wrench. Sometimes it happens.

I had one of those that I tossed In a box of random junker tools i sold in my yard sale last year.
A lot of Centech Taiwan and Bench top Japan went in that box.
