Where I Do Stuff - Inside
« on: February 25, 2024, 02:49:41 AM »
I had a request to show my garage, which I will but I have to take the pix. And I might want to clean up a little first...

So this is the other half where I do stuff. We moved a few years ago and as part of that I got a small office. It's only about 10 x 11 but it suits my needs albeit a little small and I would prefer a larger work bench and more storage.

Not really sure what to say about it. I have several hobbies and if they are small enough they get done here. Want to see something close up or have questions I will be happy to accommodate.

Nice setup you have there, J.A.F.E.!  Can't wait to see the rest of it.

I have something similar but, instead of a small workshop mine doubles as a ham shack and overflow guest room.

Snapmom, just wow!

Steve, that gray cabinet is killer! Did you repaint that? It reminds me of old medical cabinets. Lotsa cool goodies in that room. In particular,  I liked the way you hung the ignition set on the wall!
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!

Uncle Buck. The cabinet was an Ikea item. Believe it or not my wife sort of goaded me into buying it. She was smart it's easier to dust the the cabinet than all the crap inside and she knew I'd dust the cabinet far more often than all the stuff. Unfortunately I think it was discontinued.

The ignition set was something I always wanted but they were usually out of my price range. I found the set missing some pieces and the seller gave me a deal because no one was biting. As it turned out I had all the missing stuff.

"Lets see some pix Magic! (if I can be so informal)"

Sure, please call me Lou. The Magic Ratchet is a tool, and a long story that folks from one of my previous lives know me by.

The first photo is an overall view from the sleeper couch: desk, bookshelves, cabinet with the printer and tv (between them is the area where all my HT chargers reside), off to the right is the cat tree in front of the window. Off to the left, out of frame, is the closet where amateur radio station NY4F is located.

The second photo is a view of the station. On the desk, L to R, top to bottom: Behind the computer screen is an Icom PCR-1500 receiver which is displayed on the screen. On the wall behind the desk is a small weather station. Next is a Yeasu FT-736R equipped with 4 band modules for 2 Meters (144-148 MHz), 1.25 M (222-225), 70 cm (420-450), and 23 cm (1.2 GHz). On the far right of the top shelf is a cross needle watt meter. On the desk itself is the computer and speakers for the receiver. There are headphones and some cables, then the power supply and speaker for the Icom IC-7100 on the far right. The computer also provides digital modes such as FT-8 and on-the-fly programming for the IC-7100.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Here he is, a 15 pound Bombay who lost most of his tail in a previous life. We took him home from the shelter after he was removed from a house with 42 other cats and dogs.

Lou, Thanks for sharing your paradise.

Seeing your HAM  radio equipment reminded me of my 1950's childhood friend's father who had a whole bedroom full of electronics equipment. Like three walls full from floor to ceiling with a desk. On the desk was a Morse Code Keyer and a highly polished D104 Microphone. We'd listened for hours from around the world.
