nos pawn shop find, 1/2 x 9/16 martin wrenches
« on: February 17, 2019, 10:36:03 PM »
i was scrounging through a pawn shop yesterday and found these. they had about 1/2 a pallet of new  hand tools. mostly dewalt  but also some proto, stanley, king tony  and martin tools. no sets, just singles of wrenches, sockets and punches.

2 items jumped out as interesting to me, dbe and doe black industrial finish martin wrenches. nothing flashy or fancy, just good old users in a brand that is very hard to come by. both still in the plastic bag until i took them out. only  3 bucks each!

Glad you got the short DBE, hate to see your supply run short :P

Don't know who made martin but quality is certainly good.

Don't get me started! 1/2" x 9/16" wrenches follow me home like bees to honey.

I'm just glad there's alot of those sized fasteners out there. :-[

I guess you are the reason about 1/4th of my wrench sets are missing the 1/2-9/16th wrench.  Anybody out there have a Walden 1/2" combination wrench with raised lettering from the late 30's.

Martin Gear & Sprocket bought Fairmount Tool & Forge of Cleveland in 1984, so you were close. Nowadays their hand tools are made in Texas.

Martin tools aren't hard to find per se, but they pretty much cater to industrial uses. I only have one Martin tool, a 1-1/4" single open end in black like yours. Nice finds btw.

I was at work and found a Martin DOE crammed in the back of a tooling cabinet drawer. It was chrome, and the sizes were 9/16 by 11/16, which I thought was a weird combo.
