Title: I think we finally have hit "absurd" pricing levels --
Post by: goodfellow on September 03, 2020, 07:58:04 AM
Forget about buying ammo. It's totally absurd pricing at this point. Case in point; Remington Thunderbolt 22LR. This is the price on the Outdoor Limited website, and the AmmoBoard website -- respectively.

I know I would never buy anything from those price gouging dealers ever!

So true, but I guess that they are now strictly catering to the "panic buyer", and don't give a hoot about how it may effect their business in the future.

I saw a 1000 pack of 556 on gunbroker for a $1000. I'm betting its sold already. On the web this morning I saw reloaded range brass 9mm for $.60/round. for reloads!!

My reloader sent me by the local gun shop to pick up small rifle primers. their limiting to 2 boxes per day. $7 a box. I got 2 he got 2 and I sent the wife in she got 2. maybe do it again tommorow? In January I bought a 1000SRPs for $30.00.

I'm glad I'm such a cheap sob I'd never pay anything near that!

As soon as I saw .223 and 9mm dry up I went and bought two 1500rnd CCI bulk packs of .22lr for $25.99 at the local Walmarts. I wish I had bought more .223 for in 2019 but im in good shape. Surprisingly .22lr is still prevalent around me though.

We just gotta make it to November 4th.

My reloader stopped by the office with a package this morning. 600rd of 556. I'm good for a while.

Nice going! Always good to have friends with a quality reloading press setup.

I hope people remember these gouging bastards and never do business with them again even in better times.

The Cheaper than Dirt company is a known price gouger, and i refuse to do business with them. That said, it's time to call out another price gouger -- Midway Inc.

These are Factory Seconds -- price per 1000/rd case is $1500. Remember these ridiculous prices when in you need to make firearm, ammo, or hunting purchases in the future.

Part of me says "you price gauging bastards" another part of me says "free market economics baby!!!"

Once we get to the other side of this new enterprising vendors will emerge, others will disappear.

I've started suggesting academy gift cards when the holidays come around. I collect up a few then head over with a plan. This past weekend found a Kimber ultra carry going out the door with me. I had to pay $200 out of pocket.

I'm not sure if I got lucky or if purchasing limits are working but I was able to pick up 2 boxes of tul steel case .223 at Rural King for $4.29 ea.

They still had a good selection of rimfire calibers, 12ga buckshot/slugs/birdshot, and large caliber rifle rounds. No handgun calibers............not even 10mm or 357sig.

That is a great find. Around here Russian .223 steel cased is running $12-15 per box (if you can find it). Surprisingly though 7.62x39 Russian AK fodder is plentiful and relatively cheap. The AK/SKS shooters have plenty to choose from.
