After decades of carefree service... Time to retire

and upgrade the old wheelbarrow. No idea of its' age or maker; but it served me well.

Never flat wheel

Just purchased a Jackson 6 cubic foot model wheelbarrow. Comes standard with a “NEVER FLAT TIRE!” Nothing new here, I never had a flat tire with the ole time tested model with its' tough steel spoke wheel..

i can only assume rust and wear have taken a toll and time has run its course with its tub.

ps. i guarantee you will miss that large diameter wheel when moving over rough ground

There is no way I would let go of this wheelbarrow set out to pasture. Most likely a complete makeover is in its' future...

Bet ya that new one wont last 10% as long as the old beauty.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

That new Jackson looks a lot like my vintage Craftsman with one wheel.

I've had this one for at least 20 years and have replaced the handles twice, welded new metal where the bolts go through and coated the inside with POR-15.  The last time with the handles I just bought a pressure-treated 2x4, ripped it and rounded the ends with a sander.  Its been a workhorse but I'm so used to a two-wheeled one that using a single-wheeled one takes some readjustment in technique.

This is how the old gal looks today. It was actually a rust bucket. I welded a piece of 16 gauge plate in the button of the tray and welded a bunch of holes throughout the rest of the frame work. The handles were like Swiss Cheese. So I pressed on a short piece of brass tubing that was hanging around my shop... I'd imagine that brass tubing is worth more than the whole project.  I'll be putting an automotive clear cost of everything tomorrow..
