Absolutely -- Quattro and the Lancia Stratos dominated early 80's championships

Pretty interesting to think that the original experimental Mustang on 1962 was a true tube chassis, aluminum body, V4 rear engine/transaxle design. Two years later it was produced on the basic Ford Falcon chassis and shared many parts with the Falcon.

Lee Iaccoca only had the budget to use a Falcon to make the mustang because nobody at Ford in the big offices thought it would sell and told everybody he was wasting the time amd money building it. I guess Iaccoca showed them and that was the beginning of him getting fired because he was right more then the brass at ford.
