The Pontiac pusher for the FED is sweet. Always loved that car.

The shattered mopar transmission looks like the aftermath of a 6,000 RPM neutral start. Popular for drag racing in the 60s.

Back in about 1973 in high school a friend kept wiping out traction bars on his 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 with an auto trans. He took his car to an old school drag racing fabricator guy who built him a set of custom bars. When the car was done we took it Irwindale raceway for Grudge Night to test it. As I was sitting in the stands with the old guy we were watching as a guy did a burnout in his Camaro and the old guy remarked that the car would dump it's tranny on the starting line. The car took off and dumped the tranny on the track and I asked the guy how he knew that would happen. He stated that he could hear it was gonna happen. I was in awe.

I've never seen a "dump" as catastrophic as that, but did see a clutch and flywheel grenade a time or two.

There was a time when hot rodders were harassed, not that some didn't deserve it.   The destroyed dash board is from a 55 Chevy,  looks like the flyweel exploded, came through the floor boards, some guys lost legs, arms, my uncle did.
