MOPAR grocery getter
« on: November 25, 2018, 02:13:50 PM »
Spotted this wagon a few weeks back.  Looks like it was pulled out of a time warp.  Honestly have not seen a station wagon, let alone a Chrysler  Town/Country in this condition since the 1970s.

A station wagon has always been my favorite body style although I prefer the impractical two door versions.

Nice looking car and seems to be in remarkable shape.

Yeah, as I get older, I too prefer a longroof to at least a four-door. And two-door wagons are dead sexy, in a hot mom kinda way.

Those classic station wagons are great but I think the Olds Vista Cruiser was the epitome.

Agreed, the high water mark from that era in my opinion.

Nothing beats fake wood siding on a steel car. :D :D

Years ago I had a bud that loved to build sleepers. he had a late 70 early 80 vista cruiser wagon. he had a BBC motor in with the biggest bottle of nitrous I've ever seen laid down in the back floor board. even the slicks had wire wheel hub caps on it. it was a pretty scary ride. :-\

That Mopar wagon does look to be in great shape.  I could certainly rock a wagon, but not with fake wood :))

I still think station wagons are cool. I think they look better than a lot of the SUV's out there today.

+1 -- had a '64 Ford Galaxy 500 Country Squire (a Woody), and enjoyed the heck out of it in my HS years. It was a great party wagon ....

I think most of the reason there are so many SUV's is no one really makes a wagon any more. VW dropped the Jetta and Passat wagons. Seems kinda screwy since Ford has decided to quit sedans except the Mustang and Focus Active and GM seems to be dropping some sedans as well so wagons won't be coming back any time soon.

SUV's and mini vans are the wagons of today and as easy as mini vans are to drive, and how versatile the are, can't see many folks choosing a wagon.

Swore I would never have a mini van and now on number 3.  Have bought them all cheap and they have served as Mama's beater quite well

Some of the minivans were outstanding. Like the Aerostar.

I remember when my folks bought a early 60's Ford Country Squire to replace the 56 Chevy wagon they bought just before leaving Iowa for SoCal. That thing could haul a load but was always in the shop and my mom hated it. After a couple of years she replaced it with a 64 Chevy Impala convertible and then bought nothing but Chevelle and Monte Carlo SS's for years.
The Chevy Nomads will always be my favorite wagons.
