V nice  Cob.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Beautiful condition, and very unique! -- I've never seen a set that included an obstruction wrench and a manufacturer specific brake adjustment tool.

Great score --

Thanks mate , I posted it over on channel 3 , been some speculation there that that was a possibility, I’m sure it’s that era , and it could be vehicle  specific  but for the huge number of US sourced trucks and military vehicles that were sold off here after WW2 (my Dad had stories of what he and the other local farmers came home with from those auctions) . If a good number of those vehicles had Hinsdale stuff amongst their tool kits I’d have seen a lot more of it than I have before now .... it’s a bit of a mystery one !

Embosed on the lid of the box along with the Hinsdale emblem is "23R", which seems to be the model number of this set, on counting the pieces once I took some stuff out which obviously didn't belong there are in fact 23 pieces not counting the box. Opinion on Channel 3 is that it dates  from the 1930s, the guy I bought it from is a reseller, his belief was it came out here just in the last few years amongst the personal stuff of a US guy who had chosen to settle in NZ. Funny how we look at something and immediately come up with the wrong theory on Age and how it might have got here .......

Very interesting set.  Very unusual to see a box that vintage not rusted away.   Scored a Hinsdale thin tappet wrench today.
