Title: Interesting old Polar Cub heat gun
Post by: coolmercury on October 23, 2018, 03:43:14 PM
This old tool works fine, made by the Ac Gilbert Co. (they made erector sets and trains) of New Haven Conn.  Labels still on the gun say, AC or DC, 105--115 volts, 60 cycles or less and see pats. attached  (nothing attached).  Could it be a hair drier?  Note the wood handle and the old electric plug.

Very nice. How hot is the output?

At one point Gilbert made small home appliances so it could be a hair drier or maybe it's war era and a heat gun for something.

One thing for sure those old plugs like that especially with the insulator missing always make me a little nervous.
