Just finished new brakes all the way around and it stops again. 1956 Mercury Montclair two door hardtop somewhat modified. For those that might not know, they were the first 12 volt mercury cars and had the 312 engine. I have owned three 56's, a Medalist, Monteray and this Montclair. Bought the Medalist new in December 1955 when I was in the Air Force.

Very nice. I love those old pastel colors too.

The older cars have such great styling and trim.... digging the fender mount spots. Every model car I made had those and a pair of radio, swept back antennas out back..
Then there were the laker pipes .... :-X
Yes that is a real, and exceptional example of the great car styling of the days never to return. Thumbs up on that treasure.
Paint looks original, 2 tone another plus is it ?

Paint is proper colors, persimmon is slightly faded, and it may be original paint as I cannot find any overspray. Interior is not original. Engine and drive train is original and still in good condition at 95,000 miles.

No matter anyway you slice it... it's a beaut. I mistook what you posted, was thinking you said this car you purchased in 59 while in the USAF.
That was the reason for the paint question. Think original paint might be lacquer or late enamel, phasing out. I just remember lacquer was the rage mid 50's to early 60s cause the drying time of the lacquer was the bomb .
95k not bad and a car you can actually wok on. Engine does it have the space station 4 barrel holley, throttle plates on the top of carb? If it does never run it without the air cleaner.... hall of fame for carb fires .
Enjoy the beast, it's sharp
