The writer of the 25 worst car article obviously never took a ride with me in this.

Looks great more pix of the car? How long have you had it?

I enjoyed working on those although I never worked on or drove a turbo version. My mother bought one with a bad trans that I changed for her.

Here is the rest of the car, since you asked. I’ve had it since the ‘80s.

That is very nice. Is it original or restored?

Can't be many turbo convertables around.

Thanks. I restored it when I first got it but it’s really showing it’s age. It looks better in the pictures than in real life. I worked at a Corvair repair shop for a little while right after high school.

Always liked the Corvair, did a complete overhaul on one back when.   Tried to own a few, but always short of cash,  the too little too late story.    Snapped this pic in Denver last year,  so they do have a following.

That’s a ‘64 Monza Spyder turbo. Thanks for the picture. I had one that color back in the day.

When his light turned,  I was sitting still, lowered my window,  had a really nice "Snarl" when it went by and he stood on it.

The last one dad had was my favorite. I think it was a 1968. It was the last year they made them. The old man rounded up an after market AC system for his and installed it, worked great. The thing ran like a champ and was fun to drive, not to mention being all but un-stoppable in the snow!

Sadly so prone to rust and what gets most including his if driven year round in the end.

I used to drive a '63 Monza, it was technically my first wifes, but I never let that stop me. Loved that car, was looking for one as a possibility when we bought a project house to restore.

Looks great to me! It's a wonderful looking vehicle, and a true surviver -- congratulations!! My dad owned a hardtop in the early sixties, and every time I see one I get the urge to kick Ralph Nader in nads.

Wow, didn't know Corvairs came turboed.  Neighbor growing up had an early one and a later one.  Cool cars.  He was a Chevy guy, Corvair, Corvette, Chevelle and El Camino in the drive.  Always kept his stuff nice and had cool rides.  My dad on the other hand had nice cars but nothing cool.

Since the subject of Corvairs came up recently, I thought that I would add this old picture I found a while back. My daughter took the picture on a family outing probably about 15 years ago. We were at the Western Railway Museum near Rio Vista, CA.
