Some goodness from a garage sale
« on: September 09, 2018, 08:19:12 PM »
So, while checking CL for any good sales I came across one that looked good. I could see Proto woodies in the pics and they listed old tools. Started at 9, but I was there at 8:30. This is what I got

Some old wrenches in an old roll $3

A complete vintage Craftsman 1/4 set $10

A complete TAC set, which I have always wanted $20
And then I spotted this box on the ground

Leather handle, and a small brass tag on the top. What does it say?

Open it up to find

An almost complete '28 Snap-on 5/8 drive set, no. 202b. Only missing the T-handle. $30
Then to hold everything, picked up an old Union box for $2, in which I find the following in the bottom

The deep sockets are '40's Snap-on and Craftsman, the others are P&C and Snap-on.
So, a great day for $65!

Someone cleaned up at that sale. Well done!

Do they appear to do anything at all ?

I think those are (do not know correct term so I am using my own term in trying to describe what I think it is) I think those are cable/line stops. Notice what looks like a small hole right along the seam where the two halves are screwed together. Note the 3/16" size. I think the idea is you clamp both halves over a 3/16" cable and screw down the screws on both sides making the part shown in the picture act as a stop to prevent travel on a cable for some kind of application.

Of course that is 100% guess on my part since I have no clue.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!
