Title: Crappy cart: Another tool mod
Post by: pep on June 25, 2019, 09:52:47 PM
Recently the of light of good fortune shined upon me. Was given a completed torch set. Unloading it discover the cart had real problems, 3 major ones...

1. When tilted back to move, the clearance from the deck to the rear edge of the platform. Is no clearance, will catch on any obstructions, rock, air hose, quarters, dimes you name it. The point being not so great.
2 The whole deal is ridiculously sloppy and flexes ..... real HF quality, today's standard of a measurement of crap tools.

3 One more nasty little event. Knowing I was going to work it over. Removing the tanks, and the regulators. The thing fell backwards and smacked the floor, as the tanks were lifted. Just missing a door, lucky shot for me.

The fix, moved the wheel aft 3 inches, changing the pivot point. Allows more clarence of the rear bottom edge of platform to floor. The larger wheels are decorative for the most part. Stiffened the frame, welded the handle.
So beware of the crappy cart ............... :-\

What?.....no side pipes or magnesium dragster wheels?

For shame Pep.

Steve
Just the frame, side pipes mount off the power side...... that would be the tanks.

The wheels are just the front runners.

A little Diamond Plate would help.

I like those tall wheels. Good mods to keep it upright with the cylinders on it.

The large wheels & set back help with the ground clearance, at the rear or inside of the floor.

Moving the crapy cart, stupid thing would not clear an air hose.

Looks like a good mod on that one. What size are the tanks?
