1/4 Drive Sets
« on: August 24, 2018, 11:21:47 PM »
One of my favorite threads at the old site was the 1/4 drive sets. I don't recall who the OP was and hope I'm not stepping on any toes by starting it new here but I'll get things rolling with my apologies.

This was my first set a Par-X 113-U 13 piece socket set. The Snap-on KRA-255 box was added later on. (Incidentally Snap-on did not count the cardboard box in the piece count.)

A set of 1/4 metric sockets followed shortly after.

Anyway this is the set as it is now - all the pieces are original to the set. I used it quite a bit at one time and still drag it out on occasion - I really like it.

This is the set as it originally came. It is a different set than in the previous post. I assembled the pieces mostly one at a time and was lucky to find the box thanks, to a member.

That is very nice - I always liked the PEXTO stuff.

OK one more for now. This is 9/32 drive but I think it's fine in this thread. I got the ratchet - it was my first 9/32 piece. I then found the rest of this set at the swap some time later and it was as shown except it was missing the ratchet and the date code of the set and the ratchet all matched so it was like magic.

Hey Jaf, im sure Stormking would be ok if you wanted to keep the original title for this thread.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

I picked up this 1940s Craftsman 1/4 in. set to replace my dads which was lost.  Found some of the sockets were 9/32.   Bought the Thorsen on a whim at a thrift shop, is on standby.

A 1937 catalog 16 pc set with a few stand in drive tools.

Pieced together from bits from Bonneyman and J.A.F.E. collections with all matching logo sockets and the tommy bar.  Some parts still have the factory cosmolene on them.  Inside box like new and outside was bare rusty metal so I sprayed it blue.

John K that ratchet is very desirable - it is Plomb made and not easy to find - very nice! I also have a similar Thorsen set I'll post up at some point.

Nice set Strik.
