Cranky, that first Armstrong one give me the itchy feeling it's some sort of refrigeration ratchet. Seems like alot of older valves and plugs were sized 1/2" - as evidenced by all those 1/2" opening engineers wrenches we see everywhere.

That Armstrong is very cool. No idea the intended application but I like it.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

Here is an early S-K hex ratchet made as part of the #105 socket set.
