Diy stubby 1/4" spinner handle
« on: April 01, 2019, 10:00:37 PM »
I decided my go to 1/4 set was missing a proper spinner handle with a female drive at the back so I  made a small one.

With a 1" USA master mechanic 1/4 adapter bit , an old cheap socket and a Rosco stubby screwdriver handle it came together nicely.

After carefully prying the handle off of the shank all I had to do was drill the existing hole all the way through so I could drill my hole in the back that would perfectly match up.
Then I ground some flats on the socket, press it in with the vice, then did the same with the 1/4 adapter bit.
Everything press fit in tight enough that It should be plenty strong enough.
Overall length is 2-3/4" with a 1" diameter handle, it seems like a handy size to me but I won't really know till I've used it some.

Thanks, I'm definitely quite pleased with how it turned out and how easy it was to make.

It's no proto Bet R Grip, but it works.

Great idea!  Nothing like making or modifying a tool to get what you want or need.

I do like making what I need, especially when I can come up with a semi factory looking result.
