Dawn Wells passed today -- RIP

Dawn Wells played Mary Ann on the Gilligan's Island TV show in the 1960s'. As a boomer I grew up watching that show when it aired on CBS in the mid-late 60s. She was a young man's perfect "girl next door" stereotype, and she had many guys hot under the collar when watching her perform on that show. Sad to see her pass -- she was 82y/o, and died of COVID complications.

While playing the part of a good ol' Kansas farm girl, she was born in Reno NV and was Miss Nevada in 1959 and competed in the Miss America Pageant. She had parts in early western series like Tales of Wells Fargo, Wagon Train, Bonanza and other shows. I have also spotted the Skipper, Professor and Ginger in ToWF. What young man didn't want a girl like Mary Ann.

She was very beautiful when she was younger.  Not so much as she aged and had too much work done.

So was Gilligan gay or what?!   :))

Now that is funny. It was actually the director, producer and writers that didn't want things too sexually charged. Can you imagine what the pairings in the huts would be like if that show was made today?  :o

This was a nice pic from when they did the show.  Mary Ann looks better than Ginger IMO, but I prefer brunettes.

Tina Louise has had a lot of work done.  She's really scary looking now.

I agree - Mary Ann was the better looking of the two.

And I think Tina Louise is in hiding, and who we are seeing in public is a body double.  :))

If memory serves me right she opted for the Gilligan's Island residuals on the advice of her husband/manager and made out the best of the cast.

I think that was a myth. The producer, Sherwood Schwartz made all the big money on residuals. She was pretty much broke when she passed away. It was a sad state of the entertainment business in those days. Supporting actors and even most starring TV actors didn't really make that much money.
