....well, in Dresden GER to be specific. I'm back from a 2 week'r spending many days in Prague for a business event, but did tack on a week extra (and the wifee) to tour Dresden, Vienna (AUS) but we ran short of time to hit Budapest.
Enough about me, here is a local swap meet that appeared to be "vintage" oriented in its wares, and was right on the banks of the Elbe river. I didn't see tons of things that I would have dragged home, I needed to keep the luggage weight under control, and whatever I purchased would need to fit into my backpack and be dragged around for 12 hours until I hit the hotel later.
The whole trip was fun, tiring, and memorable.
Enjoy!

And two more.

Some interesting tools in those photos. What were the prices like?

Thanks for the pics OnS. Interesting items for sure, but nothing out of the ordinary. It seems that the idea of a "dirt market" is much more prevalent in the old eastern bloc countries than in their western counterparts. I guess it is part of their collective communist past.

I asked my wife's uncle who worked as a mechanic in Colombia his whole life what brands of tools he used, and the most common was Snap On. I figured he may have used some Gedore but not so much.

Lots of old gems in those boxes. But yeah, getting all the weight home would be a big pain! :-\

Oh man what a field day :)
When I was living in Japan they had an event like that, it one of my fav moments.
-
I loved market days while in the Netherlands, more for the food than the tools tho :-*

I didn't even ask prices, because it would not be taken home. Germany is in euros, I did see an old Brooks style (but some odd name) that would sweet on a vintage bike of mine, but again, didn't want to drag it around for another week. It was 5 euro.
The brands were all odd, didn't recognize a single one. The quality appears nice enough, and I really liked the dogbone wrenches, but I don't use the metric one I have now. Sigh.
All in all, it was fun.

DHL those goodies home, no need to carry.

OnS,
Thanks for the photos. I saw lot's of tools in that lot that I would have liked to pick. The tools were nicer, better organized, and better displayed than at my local dirt market :-\
Just saying...
