Jeep crushes a 1963 classic
« on: January 31, 2019, 03:37:29 PM »
Jeep made a commercial for the Super Bowl that is heartbreaking. They load a 1963 Gladiator into a crusher and crush it. Then the crusher appears to self destruct and the new Jeep Gladiator appears. That old truck looked pretty straight and intact and Jeep claims they bought the truck from a scrap deal. This commercial brought a tear to my eye. :(

That's a shame -- not because they crushed the old Gladiator, but because they made a "truck-like" vehicle, and not a true truck in the Gladiator or Comanche tradition.  IMHO  -- it's not a working truck, but more of a well-heeled suburbanite fashion accessory than anything else.

It seems all people are interested in is how many USB ports and a hotspot in the vehicle.

What happened to having to wait for the game to see the commercials? Pretty much anymore if no team I care about is in the game I don't watch as o can see the commercials online.

The commercials also seem to never be good anymore.

I hate that ad. But the jeeps nice.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

[snip]

Considering the commercials cost over 5 million for 30 seconds no doubt the advertisers want to get as much mileage out of them as possible.

It's all kinda wasted on me anyway. I don't follow football and won't be watching the superbowl and I tend to ignore commercials anyway.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

" how do you like me now " ?
A helluva lot less than I used to.

Did you see when the headlight turned on , that was the trucks final breath as if it was shedding one last tear as it slowly died.
Call me crazy, but I this truck honestly seemed to convey emotion as it was being crushed.
Always lookin' to learn
