John Madden passed away today

Anyone who's watched pro football at all knows Madden.  A face as recognizable as Lombardi.  85 years old.  What a great character.

Sorry to hear the sad news. My family loved John Madden. A great sports personality and broadcaster, but who can forget John's tenure as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Ken Stabler and John Madden made football history together in Oakland ---- RIP coach

John Madden was a real character and the world is a better place due to his presence. He is probably reunited players and calling plays now.

I'm a little young for his football career. I remember him from video games, and "BOOM tough acting tinactin"

I missed his coaching days as I didn't start following the NFL until I was ten in 1980.  But I watched him as a sportscaster from the start.  Always entertaining.  He started the All Madden teams in the '80s.  Also was part of the Taste Great/Less Filling commercials for Miller Lite back then.
