Coolest present I've received in a while -- thanks Pep!
« on: April 07, 2022, 01:47:08 PM »
I'm so very humbled and appreciative of the present that Pep gifted me. Imagine my surprise when out of the blue a package arrived and it included this wonderfully handcrafted wall clock designed with the look and feel of a machinists test indicator. What a great gift -- thank you so much Greg, and I will put it in a place of honor in my new machine shop area. Currently I only have a cheap $5 countertop clock sitting over the lathe. This will definitely be a showstopper conversation piece for years to come.

Coolest thing I've seen in a long time.

Mounted over a lathe is a great place for that. :PDT_Armataz_01_37:

Glad you like it, and thanks for saying.

I'm not even anything close to a machinist and I think that's cool.
I can even tell right away what it's supposed to be.
Always lookin' to learn

Here are pictures to explain, it is used to check the surface accuracy. Can see the indicator is set at 0. As the chuck is rotated it changes showing it is not centered, true.

End game is to achieve 0 for a 360* rotation

Really neat.

Looked at the first picture without glases and thaught it was a dial indicator.
