I'm no expert by far but I enjoy a good beer or two. So if your looking for detailed reviews I'm not your guy.
How I'll post up beers that I found and enjoyed or didn't, feel free to do the same.
Tonight it's a Bourbon Barrel Stout by New Holland Brewery.
This a good beer, but at 11% it's not for the week of heart.
The bourbon element is strong on both aroma and taste. Also get some notes of raisins, vanilla and dark chocolate.

Good idea -- what's not to like about presenting good regional craft beers
-
They've done a good job with that beer if the alcohol doesn't overpower the beer flavor. Do have to be careful with beer that strong though. A six pack isn't far off the alcohol content of a fifth of 80 proof.

A friend dropped off a growler of TWB Brewery's (Together we're Bitter) Oatmeal Stout called "Oaty McOatface"
It is wonderful. Smooth, black as a coal miners lung, chocolaty and did I say smooth?
If you find yourself near Kitchener Ontario, I humbly suggest trying it.

Had a Milk Stout from the Left Hand Brewing Company yesterday -- WOW~!!! It's one offering in their NITRO series; which means they introduce nitrogen into the beer to replace the CO2 -- nitrogen makes the beer taste smoother. If you've ever has a true pub poured English cream ale or Irish stout -- that's what makes them taste so smooth and creamy.
Tastes a lot like chocolate -- but in a good "beer" sort of way -

I'm quite a beer snob, being from a Wisconsin beer family with my g-grandfather a brewmeister from Germany and my Father working at the local brewery for almost 40 years. A three year tour in Germany only expanded my love of different types of beer.
I've found this very nice Belgian-Style Blonde Ale from the Hardywood Park Craft Brewers in Richmond VA.

Drinking a Long Trail IPA batch 3
It's an American IPA.
Cloudy and hazy it has a aroma of citrus and hops
It is very smooth and doesn't have the typical bite some IPAs do.

Behemoth Brewing Company's Chocolate Fish Milk Stout. Quite a few craft breweries are doing chocolate stouts. This one has a definite chocolate taste. I expected it to be a bit sweeter but it isn't. Cool!! Minimalist beer branding was once very common in the US. I'm old enough to remember that many grocery chains after WWII offered their own branded beer in very generic looking bottles and cans simply marked "Beer". It often was the least expensive beer you could find in a grocery store, but in many cases it also was very good brew. I also recall drinking cases of US Military supplied "Beer" out of olive drab green cans back in the day.
-
I remember when generic items became a big deal in the late 70's. The generic beer was crap and at a gathering in the Mojave Desert a guy showed up with a couple cases of that junk. We took it away from him and provided good beer. We left the cases of generic out in the hot sun. When they got nice and hot we shook them up good and took turns tossing them up in the air and blasting them with shotguns. Those things really exploded good but smelled like crap. ;D

I don't drink much yuppy beer. Usually just cases and cases of 59 cent a can rolling rock (slightly alcoholic water). Been splurging on beer for range days and this is pretty tasty stuff. Hurts my inner cheapass to pay $2/can though.

Sounds delicious -- home made hard cider is re-gaining a following here in the eastern past of the US. There was a time when many rural folks with access to locally grown fruit or wild berries made lots of hard cider for the winter months.

It's great, if you've ever been to Hershey's Chocolate World it's like you step into it in the first sip, but the porter smoothly balances it out and it'd not overly chocolatey
(Is there is such a thing?)
Definitely worth a try even if your not into "thick" beers. It's only available on draft (I e been getting it by the growler at my local distributor) so try it while you can!

I usually avoid the Mount because the traffic is chaos at this time of year, and it is full of Aucklanders. I had to go to my pharmacy on that side of town so I had a quick look at the beach. New Holland Brewing Dragons Milk Reserve.
The regular dragons milk is a smooth very tasty (and pricey) stout. Their reserves are aged in bourbon barrels.
When new these are a bit heavy on the bourbon taste. However this one has been in my fridge for a bit. It has mellowed down and is rather smooth.
This time the bourbon mixes well and gives a nice smooth taste along with a vanilla accent and a small sweetness.

Guinness is kinda unique. It's a taste of its own. It's smooth and leaves no bitter after taste. I like it.
However stouts come in all sorts of flavors (pun intended) if your into strong you can get a bourbon barrel stout. Or setter ones like milk stout (more popular)
I like a good stout. I'm a darker beer kinda guy for the most part. But I've had plenty that aren't dark that I really like as well.

Burger Rings are a type of corn and rice based, burger-flavoured snack food sold on the Australian and New Zealand market. Not surprisingly they are burger flavoured and are ring shaped. (Random internet picture).

Small local brewery - Lumber Jack Brewery Coastal Haze, a hazy IPA. The brewery is so small I actually met the brewer at his day job where he works a couple of days a week in the kitchen at Okere Falls Café.

"Ring the Bell" a celebratory phrase used by the Philadelphia Phillies.
So it's Fitting for an American Lager by a brewery located about 30 minutes from Philly.

Since COVID I've been working from home on Mondays if I don't have meetings or site visits. Just before lunch I heard a van door slam and thought it was in my driveway. I got up, opened the dining room window, looked out and there was a courier van parked behind my ute. As the driver stepped off the front deck I asked him if he had the right address as I wasn't expecting anything. I opened the front door to find this box addressed to me.

It contained two each of the following.

Thanks to Midnitemack. I tried the Strastosphere Westcoast IPA that paired quite well with the steak, onion and mushroom pies I made yesterday.

I love craft beers, but hate all hoppy beers. Dark and chewey is best.

I hated them at first too. I don't mind them now. As for sitting and "drinking a few" ill go with a lager or something heavy like stouts.

A gift from a friend (she now works for the Ohio craft brewer association, so she gets all kinds!)
Not as "juicy" as a lot of hazy IPAs I've had but still smooth crisp and good!

Good George Cow Town Hazelnut Milk Stout 5.5%
Can't really taste the hazelnut. Not the greatest milk stout I've tasted. I'll probably not buy it again.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20231022/4a749eea6760cd71bdbd8ef0d76a4cca.jpg)
