Cool Proto demo ratchet Cruiser. Most have probably seen the Snappy versions. I want to say that I’ve seen an Armstrong demo kit with a clear cover ratchet as well.

Here’s one you might like.

Proto Lite Aluminum 3/4” ratchet, with extended handle length and thick coating.

I have no proof that this is a Proto factory special mod but they have been known for some wild stuff. It’s well done if it isn’t. Everyone can decide for themselves whether Proto did it or a previous owner welded an aluminum bar on the end and dip coated it.  You can see a little transition bulge area where the normal ratchet ends and the extra length begins.

31”+

I would strip that nasty coating off there. I’ve never heard of aluminum forging before, but I looked it up and it is pretty common, and maybe I am just an idiot.

I kind of like the grip. It makes it more beastly and uglier.   :))

Now this one is a real unicorn.

It’s an unmarked Craftsman (or equivalent) 3/4” aluminum ratchet. I’ve seen Fatfillup’s aluminum Craftsman before. Never thought I’d find one similar. I believe this is a prototype.

There is marker writing down the side that looks like it reads “something? something? WEAR!”, with what could be a date 4-23-52. Who knows though, maybe that was the engineer’s locker combo, lol.

There is a bunch of rub wear to the body that could have happened in testing.

Shown here with the regular steel version.

Fatfillup, we need to see your ratchet again!

Yeah, but I can't pick it up with a magnet if I drop it in a bad place!  :))

That Al Craftsman is pretty cool and so is the extended Proto.

This is a little unusual it's a modified 1" drive ratchet making essentially a 1 1/4 8 point ratcheting box wrench.

Comparison to a standard Snap-on 1" drive ratchet.

L-73 is Snap-on number for a 1" ratchet so this is a modification. The bottom plate has the hole enlarged so a 1" drive gear will not fit unless I could find a bottom plate somewhere if I wanted to convert it.

1952 date code.

I am guessing it was a special but for what I have no idea. I can't think of many things that use square headed fastener that size.

Snap on F711A   7 inch.   All the F711A rats were 11".   It could not be a misprint,  there were no 7" flex rats like this that I know of.  has a 77 code.
