Pawnie finds: 10-10-18
« on: October 10, 2018, 02:53:27 PM »
Here's the combination of two lots I collected today.

Several allen wrenches (Vaco, Bondhus, etc), a section of high tekp silicone tubing, an S-K 1/4" ratchet in immaculate condition, a NY Telephone compabny driver made by Bridgeport, scroll adjuster for adjustable wrench, belt hook, and a piece of an evap cooler plug. I can add a regular female recepticle on the end and run a 120v drill out of the cooler control box.  $5 total.
Also love the little notebook - great for scribbling down formulas and keep in the tool bucket.

The SK ratchet is worth more than what you paid. As usual great haul.

Why is the evap cooler receptacle different? Doesn't look like any NEMA plug I'm familiar with.

I misspoke, Steve. It's the plug on the end of the motor cord that plugs inside the cooler.

most of the time there's an external recpt outside the cooler. Either a normal 120v dual or a (what local code requires) a fused Midwest box. (I already have an adaptor for that). But not a few evaps are hardwired into the structure. For those, an adapter that plugs into the recpt in the cooler solves the needed power dilemma, and the circuit breaker for it is of sufficient amperage to carry the drill motor. (The cooler pump is only 1.25 amps - not enough to handle the drill).

Good idea on the plug!

Odd grouping you have there but well done for sure.

Thanks.

I've done several plug mods like this for various needs. Gave up battery powered drills for a long time and switched back to corded, and thus ran into situations regularly with no plug close by. And 100' extension cords got old real quick!

Maybe I'll assemble my home-made plugs and post 'em up.

That would be awesome please do.

I like the convenience of cordless but corded are better suited for a lot of jobs.

SK prices do seem to be experiencing a price creep. But what doesn't anymore.
