Impeachment, what do you think?
« on: November 14, 2019, 09:21:16 AM »
Curious as to what you guys think will happen.

Unless there is great credible evidence against Trump, I doubt impeachment will happen and even then, I doubt the Senate will convict.

I would not be surprised if Trump did try to get the Ukraine to investigate the Bidens and hold up aid to some degree, that seems to be his negotiating style, so to me it isn't far fetched.  Of course I have no direct knowledge.  And I also seriously doubt he is the first Pres to do so.

I sure hope the economy keeps chugging along and we get a trade deal done with the Chinese as that will help his reelection bid.

Worthless to watch that charade! A parade of "witnesses" who weren't in the room with only second/third hand accounts of what happened, and a bunch of politicians grandstanding in front of the cameras. Congress has become a day-time soap opera. Meanwhile the "people's business" is being ignored and nothing substantive gets done on the hill.

I'm coming to the conclusion that this is a good thing (i.e., inactive Congress) -- Imagine what damage these clowns could do to the country if they were actually legislating. As long as they are playing their political games, we're all spared their collective "wisdom" on issues that actually do matter to the country.

I listened to the witness statements..................................... I was curious of what would be said. Reminded me of listing to Jr. high cheerleaders.

"Well I heard from Stacey who heard from Lindsey, who was listing to Hanna and Bri talking to someone on the phone that Timmy and Lucy kissed. hehehe."

Solidifying Trump's re-election.

This idiot Democrat congressman actually said on Wednesday that hearsay evidence can be better than direct evidence.  WTF?!

Well, they keep telling useful idiots all the time that they'll get free stuff - and they keep voting for 'em. Guess they stopped teaching "there's no such thing as a free lunch" in school.

I think Trump has learned a painful lesson about leaving anybody appointed by a previous administration in any position. These morons think they are hurting Trump's chances for a re-election but they are just solidifying the base and hopefully increasing it.

I watched a couple congressman talk to the former ambassador. I didn't hear one thing that was impeachable. I heard them wax poetic about what a patriot she was getting paid to her job as a Govt employee for 30 years. Its like she was supposed to be an employee for life and no one could fire her. I think Trump is an idiot but so far this just another charade

Just another shit show. The democrat clowns will do anything to discredit Trump even if it makes them look like fools. I'm just pissed that its OUR tax dollars they are spending on this shitty display of extreme partisan politics.

I've been seeing a convention of states feed on the innerwebs and I'm starting to think that might not be a bad idea. Put these idiots on a 2 term limit. Drop all the cushy benies they get. anything to get those leeches off my payroll.

They don't have crap, but still overconfidently claim it's official every couple of weeks.

First it was collusion with the Russians , now somehow the Ukranians helped him but they don't concede the first ?
Why would they want anything to do with a man who is supposedly in bed with the Russians when these two nation's are on the brink of war.

Like I've heard it said before they just want something to talk about besides Epstein's child molester island.

What kills me me is we do have term limits for the legislature (kinda). It’s called voting but everyone skips the primary which is why your left with the same demicans and republicats for term after term after term.

Or - like in my county - the Republicans don't even field a candidate, because, well, "the local environment is so difficult". Yet they have no problem finding my address and phone number to harass me for money!

Martha McSally got in by appointment - she couldn't even win against a bisexual war protester! And since the impeachment drama started she's been silent. There's a guy who's primarying her and he sounds OK. We'll have to see how it pans out.

I still like the term limit, You know how hard it is to get an incumbent out of office. Some of these bastards have been there all their lives. They aint doing anything but filling their pockets.

They gotta vote to impeach, or else their base will go ballistic on them. And - when the Senate vindicates the president - Pelosi and company will claim "we did all we could, but the GOP is protecting the Pres". And their minions will go nuts on RINO's and conservatives.

As Loki said, "There is no stopping it. There is only - the WAR!"

The House voted to impeach the President. They couldn't get him on High Crimes and Misdemeanors so they made up bullshit charges. The dems should be charged with conspiracy as they had this planned even before he was elected.

I can't believe it, and I'm at a loss for words as to how I feel.
I suppose they stopped him from Winning the next election but they only made themselves look bad in the process.
They planned it before he won simply because they didn't like him, made it their mission to get rid of him and I can't believe they actually made it happen.

What has our country come to that we've got such horrible people in our government who would actually vote to impeach our president knowing what they do.

Exactly.
And how could they vote for this knowing that he didn't simply do something wrong, he was basically watched like a clock waiting for anything they could possibly spin into something bigger than it is.
They knew they had nothing so they painted him in a corner with their relentlessness and waited for something to happen

They haven't gotten "rid of him" in any way, shape, or form. The US House of Representatives only drafts and votes on the articles of impeachment -- that's it. It's up to the US Senate to conduct the actual impeachment trial that (if found guilty) could remove a sitting President from office. That will not happen -- and President Trump will still be in office conducting business as usual until the 2020 election.

Well damn, the one time I actually listened to something the news said and it was wrong.

A few months ago I took a dumb survey that popped up on YouTube and now I get emails from the Trump administration every day, the latest using the words " they impeached me " so I assumed he actually had officially been impeached.
Honestly I don't really could how the whole process actually works and should probably look into it.

The most irritating thing about this is the wasted energy & resources.  Apparently all of our other problems have been solved.  Think of the cost to our society & many beneficial things fell by the wayside to focus everything on this.  The entire process, IF it is valid, could have been streamlined drastically.

Hickory, technically he has been impeached as impeachment means the charges have officially been leveled.  So that step has been taken.  Now the Senate needs to find him guilty (which is unlikely) and start the process to remove him from office.  Just the act of taking him to trial before the Senate constitutes impeachment but in no way means he is guilty or that they will be successful.

From Wiki
Impeachment is the process by which a legislative body levels charges against a government official. ... In the United States, for example, impeachment at the federal level is limited to those who may have committed "Treason, Bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors".
