Boomer Box
« on: November 18, 2020, 01:48:43 AM »
Bought this last night at the local Goodwill. I was in the market for one awhile back and got a new one on Amazon but haven't been crazy about it as it seems kind of cheap with a cheap plastic shell.  Barely anyone makes these anymore so they're tough to find.

This one has the CD player, tape deck and radio.  Everything seems to work great.  I'm guessing it was made early 1990s.  $17 w/tax

Tell me it has a slot for batteries so you can throw it on your shoulder and walk down the street blastin Eazy-E.

I prefer a bluetooth speaker myself, I mostly listen to podcasts in the shop.

Nice box, congrats! Used to have one in the shop that had both tape and CD drives, but these days it's mostly Bluetooth in my shop. I still see a lot of these boxes at yard sales in my vicinity. Prices usually are around $20 or below as well.

Put on some early Van Halen and relive the 80s --  :cool2:

It's funny you said that, GF, the first tape I played was 5150.   :))

Not exactly early Van Halen, but early Van Hagar!

I found one of those in my sister's barn inside a box and she said throw it in the dump trailer. I put in my truck to bring home for the shop and it was promptly confiscated by the wife so I never got to use it.

My shop version of this runs all weekend......

Ahh...the days when Prairie Home Companion was on, and the Click n Clack bros followed on Sat. Those were the radio days. Now it the local classical station which I highly appreciate.

Nice find!

I thought this was a boom box.
