Only cause I need on for wood.

That is one very cool looking saw. You plan to use it for wood, or metal? I have a wood vertical saw that I have a speed reduction gear box that I hope to convert to a metal cutting bandsaw by getting the SFPM reduced to something less than 200 to more like 170 or so I think was the figure I was wanting. That is just what my bad memory tells me was about the rate I want was. Been several years since I last calculated where I needed to be for speed.

This one will be wood. I've got a big DoAll for metal stuff.
-
I see now you wanted it for wood. Fitted with that big pulley on the machine side makes me wonder if another smaller pulley is on the inside of that big pulley in a crude attempt to make it a wood/metal saw. Absolutely beautiful machine though.
Don't forget the website Vintage Machinery. Com if you need to track down parts for your old gray iron machines.

Yah tomorrow I'll start the hunt.
The guy I got it from used it for metal.
I think I have a vintage motor here somewhere.

Beautiful old saw. Those medium size saws are pretty rare these days. A great find Jabber.
-
That is cool. Never seen one even close to that one. Looks overbuilt.
-
That is very cool. Nice score.
-
Nice score Jabber. Thats a pretty sweet old saw.

What's the throat size? Amazing the elaborate cast doors have survived intact.
-
Well if you look close the top ones buggered up.
They call these snowflakes covers.
They're not magnetic may be aluminum?
Is pot metal magnetic?

Not magnetic as far as I know.

Then that's going to be a bitch to fix then.
-
Screw fixing it. Clean, paint and adjust as you see fit and just put the old timer to work Jab!
-
I`d have to up the prozac to live with that.

IIRC pot metal has a lot of zinc in it. Really hard to weld/solder on.. JBweld possibly?
-
Yeah that will prolly be the plan. i have to rebuild the webbing thinking about using some thin wire as rebar.
-
Very cool!
