What did you burnish your electrical parts on the weed eater with?

I used a Scotchbrite pad to clean the contact points between the alu body, and the coil body to ensure a proper ground. Just shined them up.

Some forum posts on the internet suggest to clean up the magnets on the rotating assembly (dare I say flywheel), but there is no electrical contact happening there. Just magnetic action to trip the coil.
