Gas prices 3/8/22
« on: March 08, 2022, 11:39:56 PM »
Just did something that I never hoped to do. I just paid $5/gal for ethanol free gas. Unleaded is $4.60/gal and diesel is $4.80/gal. Living in a rural area means more driving to get anywhere like the stores, gas station or doctor. At least a gallon of gas just to the closest part of town and back.

Gas was $3.90 a gallon last Thurs. I could've filled up but thought Saturday while I'm out. Schedule got rearranged, didn't get gas till Monday. It was then $4.30. But it's all Russia's fault!  :-[

I don't like it but at least I'm not surprised. It's sort of like a hurricane - it's horrible when it hits but you've got sufficient warning to prepare. Alot of people don't heed the warnings of the weather service - and many don't heed Biblical warnings either.

P.S. The wife just called me on her way to work. Gas at our favorite station is now at $4.50 per.

$4.19 yesterday

Got real lucky last week, jumped to $3.95 everywhere and headed to BJ's to fill up.  They were still at $3.55, hadn't raised the price yet

Fortunately, gas is very competitive locally, so while it is high, its not as bad as it could be

George, you are so right on the biblical warnings, the signs of end times are mounting.  Now whether that is this year, next decade or next millennium we don't know, but its getting closer.

Drove to town with the wife on Monday morning and on the way out most stations were selling around $3.99. On the way back that afternoon all the stations had changed the price to around $4.10. Checked the GasBuddy app yesterday, and the price was up another $.05 to $4.15. Lines were around the block at COSTCO which was still selling at $4.00.

The COSTCO line reminded me of the '73 oil shortage. I truly feel for you guys that have a long commute.

Yeah the local COSCO has had enormous lines for several weeks. I figured they must be offering a serious discount for people to wait in lines like that.

Still been beating the pavement looking for a suitable job, but no dice. Seriously considered restarting my own handyman business, but insurance prices have held me back. Now with gas going like it is a 14 mpg truck just doesn't make alot of sense. At least the vans 20 gallon tank can act as a reserve for the wife's commute.

George, with inflation the way it is, people are not bitching about prices like they used to, higher prices are accepted as just a fact of life so if you do restart your business, don't be afraid of charging what you need to in order to cover your overhead.  Guarantee everyone else is doing it

Just filled up the truck. Cheapest gas was found at the local Sheetz convenience store for $4.16/gal. We have many local tradesmen living in our area who work daily from their trucks and vans. This price hike is really going to hurt.

$0.80 a mile is cheap for a big service truck but maybe your market is different

I am thinking it "was" $1.25 and up locally

We will be seeing fuel surcharges on many items and services now. I know it will affect the customers that use the wife's repair shop as the parts get sent out on hot shots and airfreighted. They are getting into outage season good and even have a couple of guys from the Ohio plant that flew out here for about 3 weeks to help.

I've been noticing a lot of pasture burns this year. Stopped by the feed store this afternoon and was talking with the owner. Seems a lot of people cant get/afford fertilizer this year so they are burning.

Everything made from petroleum products will be going up.

Gas here on the Nebr-Iowa border was 3.89 yesterday, up from 3.17 over 10 days.   Hope the NYC brokers get their profits soon.
