A little experiment
« on: September 05, 2018, 03:37:43 PM »
So I went to get my bike out, and the front was flat.
I discovered a tiny thorn in the tire and the smallest little pin prick of a hole in the tube.

I don't have another tube nor can I find the glue for my patch kit ( need to get some scabs so I don't have to worry about glue )
But I did have some clear gorilla tape.
So I cut a square of gorilla tape to put over the hole and I'll see how it goes, I'll check it over the next few days and see how it's holding.
I'd never try such a thing on a bigger hole, but this one is so tiny that I think this actually has a chance of working.

Anyways I'll see how it goes, such a tiny hole may not be super likely but if you had one and just needed to get home maybe this tape could work.

I rode for a month on a patch of masking tape and Resistol 5000 glue.  It held but for the bumpy ride.

I heard duct tape is good short term too but never tried it.

Gorilla tape should be good to next payday.  That is all that matters.

Will do, so far it's still fully inflated but it's only been 6-7 hours.

Spent a good 30min riding my bike around town posting up Yard sale signs for the weekend and it held air just fine.

I'd say it's been long enough that i can say it's working just fine.

I'm kind of surprised too.
I Believe the reason it's working is because the piece of tape cannot come off with the it being forced against the inside of the tire, of course the hole also happens to be small.
