Indestro Select

And with a few extras..

I think this set might have changed later to a tan hammertone colored box and the set was offered with just the sockets and a nut driver. At least that was how the Indestro set that I bought my pops around 1977-78 was. Maybe I just found the bare bones set, no telling.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!

A cobbled back CM 16 piece set from about 1937.    That is the CM logo in the top.

Same box as the CM and the Indestro with all the other CM sockets in every varient not used in the set.  These used to belong to Bonneyman a few years ago.  The boxes came out of SoCal.

It is odd it got sprayed nearly the same blue as the Indestro set.

Just odd bits here in duplicate.

Yes he does. I later gave him a ratchet and few other bits and pieces to round the set out. Funny, my dad did a lot of his own wrenching and had few tools really, no 1/4" no 3/8" and no deep sockets in any drive. How he did as much as he did is beyond me.

Strik9, I love that Craftsman set! Reminds me of a time when “made in America” really meant something. That Hella box is sweet too.

The Hella stickers are cut from the brand of oil sold a VW specialists here.   Its a dumb joke I like too much.
I repainted both boxes blue from rusty bare saving only the interior of the CM box as original.  I am sure the Hella box was once Indestro labeled.

Bottom feeding on the lowest grade stuff allows me to change things a bit and not reduce value.  Rust pits and damaged stuff is cheap.

Other than Proto tools, I really don’t look for or use many other brands. Most times, the other brands find me. And I’m always a sucker for good American tools. Such is the case with this Wright socket set. We don’t see many Wright tools here in the land of Aloha, so when I saw this at the swap meet, I grabbed it. Luckily, folks around here don’t how good they are, so Wright tools are priced at about the same as USA Craftsman.

Joke or not Strik9, I like that Hella box. I have a soft spot for all things Hella. They make top quality electrical items that meet the test of time. I’ve experienced this first hand in a marine environment.

Here's the bulk of my Bonney 1/4" drive collection, sitting in a restored S-K box. All SAE, 12 pt. Loc-Rite, except the deeps sitting in front of the box (which are 6 pts).
3/16" to 7/16" deeps, 1/2" shallow.
Do you think I have enough extensions?  :D

Uncle Buck it's great your dad still has the set.

That he could do what he did with limited tools shows he knows his tools and understands how to use them.

I was updating my wartime 3/8” drive Duro/D-I set yesterday evening so I took some pictures of the 1/4” drive sets. They are always a work in progress and it isn’t always easy finding the WW2 pieces. The upper left set is the best one since it has the remains of an almost impossible to find wartime Duro spinner. The lower right cad finish set isn’t too bad with it’s unmarked spinner.

As I was going through this thread from the beginning and enjoying everybody’s beautiful 1/4” drive sets, I noticed that there was a question about ratchets for 1/4” drive Brazil sets. It is a long term project of mine to eventually put together a Brazil set but I still need a Brazil marked box and several sockets. Here is what I have so far.
