One-of-a-kind Blackhawk Find
« on: June 09, 2019, 08:57:25 AM »
Good morning Gents, it's been a while.  Some of you folks may have seen this on the other side, but I thought I'd post her here as well.  I saw this in the pics of a local estate sale two week prior to the sale.  Immediately salivating, I called the lady running the sale, and tried to buy it right then.  She refused, but thought she'd price it at $2-300.  I checked the listing seemingly every hour just to see if she had updated pics, and to drool again and again.  Finally the day of the sale came, and I was 3rd in line at 4am.  Luckily, the first two gentlemen ahead of me had no interest in tools.  Unfortunately, between the time I called her and the day of the sale, someone had paid an exorbitant amount for a 7/16" drive Blackhawk set (sans any case) and she didn't miss it.  So, I paid up for this but it's one of those "where will I ever find another" moments.

So, here she is in all her glory, although the leather folio is currently being cleaned and preserved.

This is a 1938-1940 Salesman's kit for Blackhawk 7/16" Drive Nuggets.  The tools were never used, as you'll see from my next post showing them cleaned up.

Todd

The cool part about this kit is that the inside panels are replaceable.  Made by Heinn in Milwaukee (still in business).

And, here are the tools after 24 hours in Evaporust, then a wipe down.  No polishing required!!

Ha I`ll bet you were tense as a block of wood before you finally bought it....
Bloody nice treasure mate.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Were those half satin, half polished chrome deep sockets unique to the nugget family?

I don't believe so.  Here's a link to some of my Blackhawk catalogs.  Should help.  https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1uGD5QuzBixkfqq2YGuoa-Ksv8bDRYETS

That find gives hope to the rest of us that we might find something else of that quality.
